Laura Shepherd is a Teaching Artist and Director of youth theater productions as well as a voice teacher. Her passions include theater for social change, devising new works with young people, and arts infused education. In addition to teaching in the Broadway Center LENS Project, she has taught and directed at Studio East, Youth Theatre Northwest, and Camp Ten Trees. Working with young people in the performing arts brings her incredible joy! Most recently Laura served as the Education Director at Studio East from 2007-2015, where she Directed "The Bully Plays," "Godspell" and "Monkey Magic" among other projects. Laura teaches singing to students of all ages, and you can find out more at shepherdsongstudio.com. You may have seen her onstage in numerous StoryBook Theater productions, singing jazz with BlueStreet Voices, or at the Kirkland Performance Center as Fruma Sarah in "Fiddler on the Roof." Laura has been singing soprano with the Seattle Symphony Chorale since 2011, and is proud to be a Washington State certified Music teacher and a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Laura is a TATLab graduate, holds undergraduate degrees in Music Education and Theatre from Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, and received her MA in Educational Theatre from New York University.
