Join the community celebration of Eyes of the Totem's 90th Year!

Come see the long-lost feature-length film shot in Tacoma and released in 1927 - in the same theater it was first shown to its producers - surrounded by the same streets and buildings that are the sets of the film - all to the score composed by John Christopher Bayman.

Also, there will be a special pre-release screening of Mariposa Production's film - A Totem Tale - A documentary about a city, a lost film, and the dream that brought them together. The making, breaking, loss, and rediscovery of a street melodrama made by the only film production studio in the 1920's Pacific Northwest, and the legacy it has left behind.

A Totem Tale:

From 1924 to 1928 Tacoma WA was home to an independent film company (Weaver Productions). Three silent films were produced at the studio, two of them by Hollywood director W.S. Van Dyke. With the advent of “talkies” Weaver Productions was forced to close it’s doors and all three films were thought lost forever. In 2015 a copy of the second film, Eyes of the Totem, was found in New York. A Totem Tale tells the improbable story of how a community found and returned a film back home and a city’s re-discovery of a forgotten past.
