Broadway Center presents
The Funniest Comics You’ve Never Heard Of –
Nobodies of Comedy
Tacoma, WA – Get ready for a night of comedy starring the funniest comics you’ve never heard of. The Broadway Center for the Performing Arts welcomes four witty comics on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 7:30pm in the Pantages Theater. The show features Jon Fisch, David Huntsberger, Dan Levy and Jamie Lissow, all comics who are quickly becoming the brightest stars in the comic industry and have appeared on Comedy Central, The Late Late Show, MTV and more.
From the producers of Laughter Arts Festival (LAF), the next wave of comedy –Nobodies of Comedy – features rising stars of funny business. The producers of LAF have carefully scoured the country for the funniest, side-splitting and most outrageous comics audiences have ever seen and selected some of the best "unknown" comedians, rolling them into one hilarious show.
Jon Fisch is a prolific monologist with universal appeal. Fisch focuses on the idiosyncrasies of city living. After moving to New York City, he was chosen as one of Comedy Central’s Fresh Faces of Comedy and named one of Back Stage Magazine’s 10 Standout Stand-ups. This year Fisch was selected for the prestigious Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival as part of the New Faces showcase. Following his impressive appearance, Fisch was singled out by both the Hollywood Reporter and the Montreal Gazette as a “standout performer”. Fisch can be seen this season on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend. He frequently performs at corporate events, headlines at clubs and colleges across the country and recently contributed to the Onion’s A.V. club Say Something Funny.
David Huntsberger’s career began while in college, where he had his own horseshoeing business—not throwing horseshoes, but actually putting shoes on the horses’ feet. While living in San Diego, he also worked as a substitute teacher. After subbing and shoeing horses during the day, he began performing stand-up at night. He was asked to perform on the weekly Best of San Diego showcase at the La Jolla Comedy Store which led to performing in front of 1,500 people at the 4th and B Theater. In December 2005, he made his television debut on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend. In June 2006, he made it to the semi-finals of NBC’s Last Comic Standing.
After enrolling in Emerson College in Boston, Dan Levy split time as a full time student and his career in stand-up comedy. Levy was chosen to compete, and subsequently won the title of Funniest College Comedian in America at HBO 2001 US Comedy Arts Festival. Since then Levy has been seen in The Montreal Just For Laugh Comedy Festival and has made TV appearances on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, The Late, Late, Show, The Andy Dick Show and has hosted two series on MTV including Your Face or Mine and The Reality Show. He also wrote, produced and starred in the television pilot Almost Funny, which was chosen as an official selection for the New York City Television Festival. Levy most recently co-starred in the feature film My Sexiest Year with Frankie Muniz, Harvey Keitel and Haylie Duff.
Jamie Lissow graduated from Fredonia State with a degree in Mathematics and Psychology. He then decided to abandon his plan of becoming a lawyer and instead enter the world of stand-up comedy.
A few years later, Lissow earned himself a spot in Montreal's 2001 Just for Laughs Festival. Since Montreal, Jamie's career continues to soar. He's made appearances on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, NBC's Late Friday, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and is a proud Star Search loser. Lissow now resides in Los Angeles and can be seen touring nationally, headlining at the nation's top comedy clubs.
