Singer and Songwriter - Peter Yarrow

of Peter Paul and Mary with Bethany & Rufus

Tacoma, WA – Enjoy the music that made Peter Paul and Mary icons of the twentieth century, as lead singer and songwriter Peter Yarrow is joined by Bethany & Rufus at the Rialto Theater on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 7:30pm. The show will unite Yarrow his daughter Bethany Yarrow and her husband Rufus Cappadocia.

 

Peter Yarrow is a founding member of Peter Paul and Mary and has written some of the most memorable songs of the 1960’s including Puff, the Magic Dragon, Day is Done, and Light One Candle. Yarrow is known for his social activism, working the Civil Rights and Anti-War movements of the ‘60s. He has often been recognized for his works, including the Allard K. Lowenstein and Rescuer of Humanity Awards for his social activism, two honorary doctorates, the Americans for the Arts Legendary Artist of the Year Award in 2005, and five Grammy® awards, among others.

 

Bethany and Rufus are a cello and voice duo that slide effortlessly between soul, funk, and folk. Bethany Yarrow is the daughter of Peter Yarrow, and has a tour-de-force stage presence, endearing herself to audiences across the country. Rufus Cappadocia is one of the world’s leading cellists, he’s toured throughout America and Europe and is known for his collaborations with a diverse mix of artists from around the world. Together, their beautiful compositions have garnered national attention while also blurring the boundaries between American folk and the world of groove, jazz, and sweet soul.
