Broadway Center’s Annual Tradition -
Seattle Men’s Chorus Performs ‘Home for the Holidays’
Sponsored by LeRoy Jewelers
Tacoma, WA – Returning to Tacoma as part of the Broadway Center’s annual tradition, Seattle Men’s Chorus will perform Home for the Holidays with two shows on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 3:00pm and 7:30pm in the Rialto Theater.
The Seattle Men’s Chorus’ annual holiday experience is full of giddy spirit and laughter that has been a trademark for 28 years. Each year the Chorus explores a different theme for their holiday concert and this season’s theme is ‘home’. Whether ‘home’ means family, friends or enjoying the child-like sense of wonder the holidays bring out of us, everyone is sure to find a nostalgic sense of cheer.
The performance will feature an assortment of familiar carols and holiday tunes, several barbershop-style songs meant to evoke the American past, and a new suite of ‘Americana Carols’ poking gentle fun at how Americans view society. To round out the show, there will be true stories from people who have played Santa Claus in various settings, and a new holiday fable about an Aluminum Christmas Tree who just wants to find a home.
Brightening the festivities alongside the men of the chorus is vaudevillian extraordinaire, Professor Hokum W. Jeebs. Professor Jeebs will be lending his musical madness in the way of tuned Coke bottles, tuba and a very special ‘I Saw Three Ships’ in which he plays the musical saw.
Before he launched Hokum Hall in West Seattle in 1993, Jeebs was an itinerant musician who blended ragtime, vaudeville and humor at theme parks, on cruise ships, and in the '70’s as a one-man-band street performer. His classic act has now been performed in thousands of places as varied as Orlando, Sydney, Anchorage, Tokyo, and Edmonton.
About the Seattle Men’s Chorus - Founded in 1979, the internationally renowned Seattle Men’s Chorus, along with Seattle Women’s Chorus (founded in 2002), are the largest community choruses in America; and the largest gay choruses in the world. Flying House Productions, home of Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus, ranks third among the state's music organizations with over 300 members of Seattle Men’s Chorus and over 200 members of Seattle Women’s Chorus.
