Broadway Center for the Performing Arts presents
Roseneath Theatre’s Production of Wrecked
A Performance for Families and Teens Addressing Alcohol Abuse
Tacoma, WA – On Friday, January 25, 2008 at 7:30pm in Theatre on the Square, the Broadway Center for Performing Arts will present Roseneath Theatre’s production of Wrecked, a performance for families and teens addressing alcohol abuse.
With dark humor and candid realism, Wrecked depicts a family in turmoil. This profound look into the life of a teenager whose mother is an abusive alcoholic, Wrecked depicts the struggles of trying to hide this family’s problems from the outside world and the turmoil of trying to protect and provide each other when dealing with alcohol abuse. In order to enable audiences to understand how to confront problems of substance abuse, Wrecked establishes a safe forum for families where they can discuss the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse with their young adults.
Wrecked won Dora Awards for both Outstanding Production and Outstanding Performance in 2006 in British Columbia, and won a Canada Council for the Arts Theatre for Young Audiences prize.
Director Richard Greenblatt has been involved with Canadian theater for more than twenty years. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England, some of Greenblatt’s credits include Detaining Mr. Trotsky, Gravity Calling, 2 Pianos 4 Hands, and another Roseneath Theatre production, Dann, King of the Basement. He has received numerous awards for his work, highlighted by his Dora Mavor Moore Award and Chalmers Award.
Writer Chris Craddock has won the prestigious Enbridge Award for Emerging Artist and three Sterling Awards for his work in Edmonton Theatre. Craddock is considered one of Canada’s finest emerging playwrights. He has authored several plays, including Tranny Get Your Gun, Ha! and On Being a Peon.
